SS Rajamouli, who is currently beyond happy, as his film RRR won Golden Globe award for Best Original Song, Naatu Naatu, has made it clear that RRR is not a Bollywood film. RRR starred Ram Charan, Jr NTR, Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn and Olivia Morris. RRR was released last year.
SS Rajamouli makes a BIG statement about RRR
In a video that is going viral on social media, SS Rajamouli can be heard saying that RRR is not a Bollywood film. The filmmaker then explained his logic behind using songs in his films.
While interacting with the media after the screening of RRR at the Directors Guild of America, SS Rajamouli said, “RRR is not a Bollywood film, it is a Telugu film from the South of India where I come from, but I use the song to move the story forward rather than stopping the film and giving you a piece of music and dance. I just use those elements to move the story forward.”
He went on to add, “If at the end of the film, if you say I didn’t feel it like three hours, then I know I am a successful filmmaker.”
Ram Charan and Jr NTR starrer RRR was released in 2022. Since its release, it has been making headlines for many reasons. Recently, RRR won big at Golden Globe Awards 2023. RRR song Naatu Naatu defeated Rihanna’s Life Me Up from ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ and Taylor Swift’s Carolina from ‘Where The Crawdads Sing’. MM Keeravani accepted the award on stage. Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor among others congratulated the RRR team on winning an award and making India proud.
On the other hand, RRR could not win the Golden Globe award for Best Non-English Language Film.
